Herbal Treatments And Herbal First Aid  

In addition to commercial topical ointments, for the herb savvy person, there are a myriad of herbal topical applications, both homemade and on the market shelves. While these are not an exact substitute for commercial ointments, for some people who are allergic to the ingredients in the ointments, these may be a solution.


When using any herbal treatment, especially for topical wound application, it is best to use store made or store-bought herbs and preparations, since homegrown herbs and homemade products can be contaminated with retro-active viruses and bacteria.


However, there are a select few herbal applications which may be the exception to this. As with any homemade herbal treatment, advice found here does not substitute for professional medical advice and certainly does not guarantee an infection or blood-borne pathogen will not take hold. As with commercial preparations, there is always a risk of infection and severe complications with any injury.
